Having learned to pitch horseshoes as a kid, Doug McConnell would join the Kansas State Horseshoe Pitchers Association in 1990, beginning a career that would take him to Kansas State Men's Horseshoe Pitching titles in 1996, 2001 and 2002. Doug also served the Kansas Horseshoe Pitchers Association as its Vice President in 1994 and 1995. A lefty from Hutchinson, Doug has represented Kansas at the World Tournament 13 times in various classes since first attending in 1992. Always a tough competitor,he has finished in the top three in his class nine times at the World Tournament.
