HISTORY
For a little over 10 years (after graduating from OSU/Okmulgee), I owned my own graphics/t-shirt company, as well as
working for a couple of sign companies in Tulsa, eventually buying Sommers Sign System where I worked full-time. I sold
the sign business in 1988, along with most of the equipment, but I continue to dabble with the signs and graphic design
stuff. This page is just a place to show off some of my past and present creativity.
WOODWORKING
Dana had been after me for years to get a headboard for our bed. Her idea was to go to the
furniture store and buy one; my idea was to build it. I finally found a couple of sets of plans
that I liked-- made a few modifications and-- viola! HEADBOARD! Why not buy one, you ask? And save all
that money and time...not on your life! I also built a matching computer desk. Click on the images for a larger
view.
PATIO COVER/STAINED CONCRETE
We lost the only tree in our backyard--a very large maple that was hit by lightning. After cutting
the tree down (there wasn't much left of it), we realized that we had no shade in the backyard, so
I built a patio cover on the back of the house. See the entire process.
VISUAL BASIC PROGRAMS
I've got a couple of applications that I'm working on right now. One is an on-going project for
recording welding procedures (WPS's) and welding procedure qualification records (PQR's) which are
required documents when fabricating pressure vessels i.e. shell and tube heat exchangers. We (the company
I work for) looked into purchasing some software, but found that there aren't that many applications
available. We also wanted the ability to share the information with other in-house applications, so I
wrote my own version of a WPS program which allows us to customize it for our specific needs.
Basically, the WPS is a "blueprint" for welding specific types or grades of materials. The WPS dictates the type of welding consumable (rods, wire, flux) for various processes, as well as spelling out operating parameters such as amps, volts, travel speeds the welder must employ to accomplish the necessary weld(s). I'll try to get some screen shots posted later.
ARTWORK/GRAPHIC DESIGN
Some of the logos / artwork I've done. Some of it is a little "dated" looking. I don't do a lot of this
anymore...just not enough time. Click on the thumbnail for full view.
