PXL-2000 videos
Lately I've been experimenting with a Fisher-Price PXL-2000 toy black and white video camera. These cameras were originally sold in 1987. For the last 10 or so years these cameras have been used to produce some interesting independent pieces.

I purchase a restored PXL-2000 video camera and produced a video entitled "Gestures" for the "PXL This 16" festival in Los Angeles in November 2006. The "PXL This" festival is dedicated to works created using the PXL-2000 video camera.

"Gestures has recently been selected by Microcinema International for thier 2007 "Independent Exposure" tour.
Synopsis of "Gestures"
In the Fall of 2002 the U.S. began a march toward war with Iraq. After rapid military success, it became painfully clear that there was no plan to secure the peace. A chronology of the Iraq war is told in Gestures.

"Gestures" Backgrounder
I produced "Gestures" in early 2006 partly due to my frustrations with the war but also in large part to my frustrations with Donald Rumsfeld. Recall, Rumsfeld, in his typical condescending manner, would say the war is Iraq is very complex and those who oppose the war are essentially ignorant in these matters.

The point of "Gestures" is to highlight that, in fact, the war in Iraq is actually very simple. So simple in fact that a child could get it. That being - you lied about the intelligence, congress bought your lies, you invaded Iraq based on your lies, you claimed victory (yet another lie), with no post war planning the shit hit the fan in Iraq, the war has created fraud waste and abuse at the highest levels of the U.S. government, and finally you have no clue how to get us out of this mess or when this war will end. I believe your average six year old could pretty much grasp the situation!
