Places to find timeshares for rent If you are a timeshare owner who is a member of an exchange company such as RCI or I.I., probably the best place to get the best deal on a timeshare for rent is through your own exchange company. RCI calls such rentals "Vacation Escapes" and I.I. calls them "Getaways". Sometimes the rental rates on these are phenomenal compared to renting a comparable accommodation any other way. Interval International contact info: Another advantage of renting from an exchange company compared to renting a hotel room is that there is normally no "transient occupancy tax". These taxes can be very costly (1% to 20%!) depending upon the city in which the accommodation is located. Cities are continually trying to pass transient occupancy taxes on timeshare projects, but have been thwarted almost 100% of the time by the timeshare advocacy group ARDA because the accommodation space is owned by individual parties who have bought and paid for it in their deed.
