During 2007, Larry was in the studio with Levon Helm, along with Amy Helm, Levon's daughter, Teresa Williams, Brian Mitchell, Byron Isaacs, Glenn Patscha and George Receli recording Levon Helm's first album in over a decade. Dirt Farmer was released through Vanguard Records. The cd contained music reminiscent of Levon's past and songs handed down from Levon's parents. Larry and Amy co-produced the album. At the 2008 Grammy Awards, Dirt Farmer won a grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album. At the 2008 Americana Music Awards, Dirt Farmer was a nominee for Album of the Year and "Poor Old Dirt Farmer" from Dirt Farmer was a nominee for Song of the Year.
