Welcome!

Somebody famous should have said: "You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

And they could have added: "But it may annoy you first."

Three Days at the Harbor

By Laura

Monday

Lights of the pier in their perfect luminescent rows,
Reflect on gently lapping waters.
Little fountains of fire
Dance happily on the wavering blackness.

Tiny flaming soldiers, marking time,
Never straying from their posts.
The sights they see on the shores they defend
I can only wonder as I watch curiously from my window high.

Tuesday

My little soldiers look worried today-
The fountains blurred in the mist and spray
Carefully watching the unsettled bay
On guard against an impending fray.

The waves lap lightly at the shores they love.
But it begins to grow to a firmer shove.
The sentries stand prepared to fight,
As thunder rumbles in the night.

Lightning rips sharply through the sky
Illuminating waves growing dangerously high.
Thunder follows with a terrifying crash,
Signaling the start of a watery clash.

The battle rages through the night.
The storm displays its awesome might.
But the soldiers never turn in flight.
They hold their ground, formations tight.

Wednesday

And with the dawning of the morn,
I see my soldiers, battle-worn
Still at their posts along the pier.
I sigh, relieved to see them near.
