Never having attended schools to learn about sculpting, all that I know came from "just plain doing it". However, I do have every book on anatomy I could get my hands on. I didn't begin sculpting until later in life. At age 35, I was working at an art supply store when a fellow asked me if I could sculpt....so I did. That was the start for me. I have gone to a couple of workshops given by Fritz White and John Zahourek. These men were the influence for movement in my work. I am fully self taught (a worn out phrase) and really enjoy drawing and sculpting the human form. Most of my sculptures have been cast in bronze and are Western Americana in nature. Only recently have I begun working with the Polymer clays and I look forward to learning more about this particular medium. |

The 'Maggie Cavender Award of Service' was established to be given annually "to an individual who has worked hard for the interests of songwriters". It continues to be awarded to this day. |
