PART 2:Can man reach God by good deeds?

During my philosophy course work, we read and compared Judeo-Christian

thought, Islam, and several of the eastern faiths.  I could not find any scientific

evidence to support Hinduism and Buddhism.  Looking at the other religions,

I found that all of them, except Christianity, claimed that the only way to reach

God was by doing good works.  My professor, who was one of the world’s

experts on Nietzsche (a german philosopher who is famous for writing,

“god is dead”), spent many hours discussing this concept of reaching a god

through our own endeavors.  His conclusion and those of most philosophers is

that no one can reach or become closer to an omniscient, omnipotent,

all benevolent being by any human works.

 

Can’t you reach God if you are a good, moral person?  If we cannot reach

God through our “good” works, how can we have a relationship with this Supreme Being?  Why does only Christianity claim that you cannot “get to” God by your actions?
