PART 5:How do you become a Christian? |
|
I also began to realize that someone had surrounded me with Christians. My college roommate, teammates, and families from my hometown all reported that they were believers. At this point in my life, I was amazed by such incredible coincidences. All the closest people in my life that I knew and respected claimed to be “Christians”. Through our discussions, I learned that a Christian believed in FOUR BASIC CONCEPTS:
1. God exists, loves you, and has a plan for your life.
2. God gave us a choice, and our pride has made us run from God. Sin is the term used for any thought or action that turns our eyes away from God. “We are sinful and separated from God. Thus we cannot know and experience God’s love and plan for our life.” (quote from the four laws)
3. God gave a way to bridge the infinite chasm between Him that we have made by our sins. Jesus became human and died as a sacrifice for all the thoughts and actions that turn our backs on Him so that we could have an intimate relationship with Him. This is the only way to God.
4. You must believe in Jesus Christ as God and as the one who bridged the gap between God and man’s sin. Once you believe in Him, you are eternally with Him. (“Hell” does exist; it is for those who turn their backs on God, don’t receive His free gift, and when they die, their spirits live forever apart from God.) |
