MY SEARCH

Part 7: Why do I love God?

As you can see from my search, there are solid intellectual answers that confirm the truths of Christianity.  So Christianity is not based on ‘blind’ faith, in fact the earliest Christians word for faith meant trust.  Just as you have to trust that the chair you are sitting in will hold your weight, Christian faith is founded on evidence that is so strong that I, as a Christian, can trust in God.

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

But it is only the experience of God in my life that has changed my heart.  Through much pain and many trials, God continues to perform surgery on my heart.

“God loves everyone of us as if there were but one of us to love.”

                                                           -Augustine

The more I know of the Who the less I ask why.  The God of the universe loves and adores each one of us.  He has shown His love through His humility in becoming one of us (Phillippians 2:6-11), and through His sacrifice.  He has shown me His love each day as the gift of life.

We are all in search of agape love: the unconditional love.  Christianity is the only religion to describe God as a loving father.  In fact, the parable of the prodigal son describes God as a passionate, intimate, madly in love with His son type of father.
