Lynne Brakeman is a writer, editor, and web design content specialist.
Lynne has covered a wide
variety of subjects: from acoustic music to veterinary medicine,
information technology in healthcare and engineering, automatic
identification technology, the landscaping and golf turf industries
and the hospitality/lodging industry.
Lynne is currently Web
Marketing Manager for the Manufacturing
Acvocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET), a 20-year-old non-profit
organization that promotes the vitality of the manufacturing industry
in Northern Ohio. In her first six months with the organization she helped design and launch a new site for the organization's Product Design & Development division, www.magnetpdd.org. She also authors a daily news round up of regional manufacturing news briefs.
Background
Lynne began writing for business-to-business
in 1993. Her news reporting and feature articles have earned her
five regional and seven national awards from the American
Society of Business Press Editors.
From 2006 to 2007, Lynne
was Senior Web Editor for Questex Media Group's Hotel
& Motel Management Group. From 2001 to 2006 she was Web
Editor for Questex's Landscape
Group and Pest
Control Group publications. The Web sites she helped create
and manage for Questex include:
For the Landscape Group,
from 2001 until June 2006, Lynne wrote and edited LM
Week in Review, an e-mail newsletter for landscapers and
lawn care professionals. In 2003, LM WiR won a national award from
the American Society
of Business Press Editors (ASBPE). She also launched the online-only
Athletic
Turf News monthly e-mail newsletter which received a national
ASBPE award in 2005. In 2006, she received a national ASBPE award
for Original Web Commentary for an LM Week in Review opinion
column written in 2005, "Dialogue
and Democracy."
As a personal project,
in 2003, Lynne launched Northeast
Ohio Buddhist News, a monthly e-newsletter for the community
of individuals practicing Buddhism in Northeast Ohio.
Lynne has also edited
two reference books for Detroit-based Gale Research (now The
Gale Group unit of The Thomson Corp.):
Between 1993 and 1997,
Lynne published frequently in local and regional publications including
The Sun Newspapers, Northern Ohio Live, Cleveland
Magazine and Scene Entertainment Weekly.
Lynne lives in Lakewood,
Ohio, a village-type close-in suburb of Cleveland. Her hobbies are:
all kinds of music (but especially the music of Béla
Fleck, Edgar
Meyer and YoYo
Ma), great movies, restoring a century home, and catering to
the whims of her two cats, Molly (a geriatric Siamese) and Belle
(a sturdy Tabbycat).
