PAND schedules fund raiser for Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum on March 15

On Wednesday, March 15, the Cleveland Chapter of Performers and Artists for Nuclear Disarmament (PAND) will host a fund raising dinner to benefit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.The dinner will be at Massimo diMilano's on Wednesday, March 15 at 6:30 pm. For a $35 donation ($20 tax deductible) attendees receive a full course dinner (cash bar). Jewel Heart's Gehlek Rimpoche visits Cleveland Feb. 25 and 26
Jewel Heart founder Kyabje Gehlek Rimpoche will visit Jewel Heart Cleveland Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26. Rimpoche will teach on "The Three Principle Aspects of the Path to Highest Enlightenment," by a 14th century Tibetan master. The lectures will be 10:00 am to noon and 2:00 - 5:00 pm each day. Cleveland Zazen Group holds all day sitting
The Cleveland Zazen Group will hold an all day sitting at the Green Tara Yoga Center in Cleveland Heights on Sunday, Feb. 26. For more information, contact Susan Rakow, voice: 216/932-3084.


Cleveland Shambhala schedules Training Level III in March
The Cleveland Shambhala Meditation Group will welcome Henry Chapin of the Ottawa Shambhala Centre for Shambhala Training Level III: Warrior in the World, March 10-12. A class prerequisite is completion of Level II. The training begins Friday, March 10 at 7:30 pm; the fee is $125 but discounts are available. Buddhist Peace Fellowship Cleveland plans Change Your Mind Day June 3
The Cleveland Chapter of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship is organizing a Change Your Mind Day (CYMD) observance the afternoon of Saturday, June 3 (location TBA). CYMD is an international event promoted by Tricycle magazine.The free event focuses on the teaching of Buddhist meditation, and will include teachings from at least three Buddhist tradition. Buddhist Precepts Study Group continues in Lakewood
One Saturday a month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Lynne Brakeman will host a study group on the Buddhist Precepts This year we are reading from Being Upright: Zen Meditation and the Buddhist Precepts by Tenshin Reb Anderson Roshi. The next study dates are March 11 and April 8. The class will usually be on the second Saturday of each month. E-mail lbrakeman@cox.net for details and directions.


CBT's Dharma School welcomes children and teens
The Cleveland Buddhist Temple (CBT) offers a monthly Dharma School class on Sundays at 10:00 am for younger children and teens. The next sessions are March 19 and April 23. April 23 is CBT's Hanamatsuri celebration and the Dharma School will be viewing a colorful slideshow presentation on the life of Shakyamuni Buddha (for all ages). CBT's semi-annual food sale fund raiser is scheduled for March 25 and 26. CBT is seeking volunteers. Contact Connie Baldwin-Guinto for more information. Jewel Heart's Gehlek Rimpoche will lead a series of classes on Shantideva's Boddhisattva's Way of Life
In 2006, Jewel Heart Ann Arbor will welcome its spiritual leader, Gehlek Rimpoche, for a series of all day Saturday classes on Shantideva's classic Bodhicaryavatara. The classes will cover Chapter IX: Affection of Wisdom. Class will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on seven Saturdays: January 28, March 25, April 8, June 3, July 29, September 30 and October 21. Columbus Zen announces 2006 sesshins with Daniel Terragno
Columbus Zen announced dates for two week-long sesshins with Daniel Terragno. The spring sesshin is Friday, March 31 through Friday, April 7. The fall sesshin will be Tuesday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 12. Daniel Terragno is the Dharma heir of John Tarrant Roshi of the Pacific Zen Institute. Terragno started his spiritual practice in 1967 studying the Gurdjieff Work with W.A. Nyland before taking up Zen. Terragno received authorization to teach Zen in 1995, and in 2001 received Dharma transmission from Tarrant Roshi. Buddhist Women's Conference will be in Chicago in March
The Buddhist Council of the Midwest and DePaul University, Chicago are jointly sponsoring the Buddhist Women's Conference March 11, 2006. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Rita gross, author of Buddhism after Patriarchy: A Feminist History, Analysis and Reconstruction of Buddhism. There will also be a panel discussion on the topic "Women Living the Dharma." Panel members include Kyoki Roberts, head priest of the Zen Center of Pittsburgh and Abbess Khenmo Drolma of the Vajra Dakini Nunnery. There will also be a number of workshop sessions. Chicago: Contemplative Garden Design workshop offered in May
On Saturday, May 13, the Zen Community of Oak Park (near Chicago) offers a workshop on Contemplative Garden Design with Martin Hakubai Mosko and Alxe Noden, co-authors of Landscape as Spirit - Creating a Contemplative Garden (Weatherhill, 2003). The eight-hour workshop will give participants the opportunity to design for an actual space at the community's property, then compare designs with Mosko and Noden. The cost is $175. Tenshin Reb Anderson Roshi returns for a six-day sesshin in Pittsburgh in June
The Northeast Ohio Soto Zen Group and Pittsburgh Stillpoint Sangha are collaborating to welcome back Tenshin Reb Anderson Roshi for a six day Soto Zen sesshin retreat, June 16-21 at the Franciscan Spirit and Life Center in Pittsburgh. On June 16 at 7:00 pm, Tenshin Anderson will give a public talk. Space for the sesshin is limited Registration details will be available soon. Dalai Lama plans visit to Buffalo, NY next September
The University of Buffalo announced that HH The Dalai Lama will speak on Friday, Sept. 21, 2006 at the University's stadium as part of its Distinguished Speakers Series. You can sign up to receive information about ticketing and related events when it is available.
