Past Experience:
I have over 40 hours of professional growth with a focus in ELL, Resource, Math and Technology. Recent examples include: Math in the Mind's Eye, Intel Teach to the Future, and various English Language as a Second Language studies. Recently, I have scored state high school writing assessments from across the nation, discovering along the way techniques that will help students complete 6-Traits Writing Assessments more successfully.
I have been a district member of the Literacy Cadre/ Textbook Selection Committee for two different districts. These experiences included mentoring teachers to become better reading and writing instructors. I also have served on Site Management, a District Level Career Ladder Steering Committee, and headed a Teachers Assisting Teachers Committee at a nationally recognized Title One school. Six years of inclusion experience with learning disabled, hearing impaired, and autistic students have sharpened my skills in teaching to all intelligences. I have trained four student teachers and completed a mentorship program for 1 st year teachers. I have delivered over $12,000 worth of technology grants to my school sites, and have implemented and sponsored a continuing after-school drama club for 4 years. As a former Maricopa employee, I initiated a District-wide Art Fair in the Maricopa School District that resulted in the hiring of a district art teacher. More recently, I served by developing a school-wide Renaissance Faire and a family reading event for two different school sites.
