William H. Sharp⁽²⁶⁾ was born on 4 MAY 1844 in Delaware, IN. He died in JAN 1876 in Renssalear, Jasper Co., IN. William served in the Civil War with the 151st Regiment, company A from Indiana. He enlisted on Feb 17, 1865 and discharged on September 19, 1865 in Nashville, Tennessee. He went back to Delaware Indiana to be a farmer.

Per family story told by Aldora Sharp to her daughter and passed on down, William and Andrew Peterson joined the Union Army at the same time. The story goes that the men came home on leave to see their families, and Aldora and Alzada were conceived. The men then went back to war. Both men were captured and put into Andersonville Prison. When the war was over, they were released, walked back to Indiana. Questions arise about this story. First, William enlisted February 13, 1865 and was discharged September 22, 1865. His wife was already pregnant with Aldora when he left because she was born July, 1865. Some family stories become garbled through the years or mad up to begin with. William was mustered out of the Army in Tennessee, not Georgia.

William's middle name could have been Henry or Harrison. There were Henry's in the Sharp family. Did not find any Harrison as of yet. 4/98.
