Simeon Smith was born on 24 SEP 1845 in Auglaize Co., OH. He died on 7 FEB 1933 in Rootstown Twp., Portage Co., OH.⁽⁹⁹⁶⁾ He was buried after 7 FEB 1933 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion, Ohio. The following is an obituary of Simeon Smith (don't know what newspaper it's from):

Simeon Smith, son of William and Nancy Smith, was born in Auglaize County (Ohio), September 24, 1845. His parents moved to Defiance county when Simeon was fifteen years old by driving a team of oxen. It was a pioneer adventrue, the country unsettled and only two houses being in 30 miles.

In 1871, Simeon married Miss Mary Evans. In 1883 they moved to Putnam county where they spent the remainder of their married life. In 1918 his life companion jpassed away after which Simeon retired from a successful life of farming and made his home with the children. Simeon and Mary were blessed with eight children, six boys and two girls, three have preceded him in death.

In 1889 he united with the Christian Church at Mount Zion.

His general health was unusually good until a few weeks before his death. The final resting place of his body shall be by the side of his beloved wife at Mount Zion and his real life shall follow her's back th their creator.

He departed from life at the home of his son, Charles of Rootstown, at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning, February 7th, A.D., 1933, age 87 years, 4 months, 14 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure, one brother, Preserment of Archibold; five children Charles Smith of Rootstown; Mrs. Hattie Garret of Toldeo; Roy Smith of Fostoria; and Mrs. Gertrude Wolff and Alen Smith of Continental; also twenty-six grand children and thirteen great grand children, and many friends and acquaintances.

This brief story closes with the words of his oldest son, Charles.

I shall miss him in the garden,
And all over the land,
With his ever cheerful preserve
and ready helping hands.
And though he leaves us for the
present, just to join that
heavenly band;
We all hope to meet him some
day in that fair and better land.

Funeral services were held at North Mt. Zion Christian Church, Thursday. Rev. Russell Hawk officiated. Burial in Mt. Zion cemetery.

In 1898 Mary, Minnie and William (Clarke) were living in Cleveland. I haven't been able to find where Levi died. Mary worked as a housekeeper. My mohter said that Mary couldn't read or write, but could figure out what things would cost in her head, when she went to the store. She died at the home of her daughter, Minnie Swagler in Doylestown, OH. She was 81.
