Mace Windu was one of the 14 Jedi sitting in their chairs doing nothing. But all of that changed in episode II. If you saw episode II, you see him killing Jango Fett by chopping his head off. You also heard him yelling at Count Dooku when thy were in the battle arena. Windu is one of the most powerful Jedi there ever lived. Just to let you know, Yoda is the most powerful Jedi. Windu is human but he is almost impossible to defeat in battle. You also saw Windu in one of the Republic Gunships running away from the battle droids. They were actually trying to kill the battle droids in the Republic Gunships.
