The Sentiel-class landing craft is used for landing troops into battle zones. When the craft lands, it deploys up to 6 squads. (9 troops per squad) The Sentiel class landing craft stays where it landed it's troops to give them cover. The reason why the lander doesn't go back up to it's ship is because it has two thirds of it's power to it's shields which makes it almost impossible to destroy.
