Irregular Verbs Practice #1
 

In this exercise, write down the correct form of the irregular verb as indicated.  Remember that the irregular verbs are ones that do NOT form their past tense by adding -ed or -d.  Here are the principal parts of the irregular verbs that are used in this exercise.

Practice Exercise

1. I had (began, begun) to answer the question before I realized Jim had answered.

2. Last week at the swimming Olympic tryouts, the judges (choose, chose) the winner for the semifinals.

3. Did you say you (were, was) a finalist?

4. Bill was sure he (does, did) the homework.

5. The wind has (blew, blown) the umbrella inside out.

6. Has Jim (bring, brought) the decorations for the dance?

7. The phone (rang, rung) as I entered the room.

8. The teacher had (came, come) into the room as the bell rang.

9. Last winter, Brian (drive, drove) the car for the first time.

10. Jean will have (wrote, written) the letter of recommendation by 7pm.

11. (Choose, chose) the prize that you would like.

12. The students will (bring, brought) their books to class.

13. The pizza man (rung, rang) the bell and (bring, brought) the pizza to us.

14. Finally, I (begin, began) to suspect that the criminal was not telling the truth.
