Scott Watson's first performance was at age 5, at the Norfolk
city Pavilion talent show singing "Davy Crocket". Scott's
Father and Mother are both musicians, and local entertainers. Scott
is classically trained in piano, and brass, and started playing
guitar at 12.
Around 1969, Scott began playing the harmonica, and 'slide style'
guitar.
Over the years, Scott has played and recorded with various groups
and has shared billing with, in no particular order; Jimmy Buffett,
Bill Monroe, the Nothin' Doin band, Seldome Scene, Ricky Skaggs,
Leon Russell, Robbin Thompson, Hand Picked, America, the Janitors,
Get Big, Tammy Gardner and of course, for the last ten years or
so, Lewis McGehee.
Scott's unique style combines contemporary sounds and styles with
the blues and country oriented resophonic slide guitar, "dobro".
On the Harmonica, Scott likes blending old style blues licks, with
chordal coloring, and on vocals, Scott's gift for singing soulful
harmonies with Lewis comes from years on the 'bluegrass circuit'
Currently, Scott lives in Pungo, VA and likes spending time with
his children, surfing, shrimp on Tuesday nights, working out (followed
by a beer and a trip to the hot tub), relaxing and visiting with
close friends, the beach, and any music that "Shares the Love".
" Playin' in Lewis' band is the most fun I've had in years.
We are all good friends, and that makes for some real magic".
