Sunny is a Collie. Sensitive and responsive, Collies were have been used for centuries to herd and guard sheep, and they are exceptionally devoted to their family. This trait was vividly portrayed in the famous Lassie movie and TV series. Although the Rough Coated Collie like Lassie and Sunny is most recognizable, there is also a smooth coated variety of the breed.

Sunny is registered for therapy work through Therapy Dogs International and is a member of R.E.A.D.® (Reading Education Assistance Dogs®). He has passed the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test and earned his Rally Novice title. Sunny also received his Herding Instinct Certification from the American Working Collie Association and Collie Club of America. He has been on television, in the newspaper, and at various schools and libraries. Children read to him twice a month at the La Mesa Library in La Mesa (San Diego County), California.
