    •     Cabin in the Woods
In March 2004 we started walking through the woods of Connecticut and Massachusetts looking for a shed, cabin or barn which needed some TLC, or a lot to build a get away cabin. In May, we came upon a lot which met our needs, and started negotiations to buy it. By August, it was ours.

Meanwhile we had also been visiting model homes of timber frame and log home builders, and had decided on one log home kit. We had also met and came to an agreement with a builder who had built many log homes, many by the same company as the kit we were planning on using.

After talking to the builder, it seemed possible to get the foundation put in before winter so the cabin could be built over the winter. We had the lot cleared only as much as needed, and the builder got permits, and started arranging for all the preparations to begin. And then everything stopped. Winter settled in, and we waited.

With road restrictions not allowing heavy equipment on unimproved roads until May 15th, all we could do was make plans and hope everything would start then. The foundation was erected and then we waited again. Finally at the end of June the builder felt he was ready for the logs to be delivered so construction could begin. And then, on August 22, the well seasoned logs began to be added to the foundation and cap.

This is our way of sharing some of our pictures with you. We will update the pictures as we have more to add, so check back every once in a while. And keep your fingers crossed.....
