Leonard actually had two of these, the earlier model is shown in this photo.
These station wagons once cruised the roads of Virginia,
beckoning one and all to try Kentucky Fried Chicken at Lendy's.
Leonard G. tells the story of
being stopped unexpectedly one day by a park ranger as he was taking his family
on a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It seems they took exception to the Bucketmobile, deeming it
a commercial vehicle, and informing him that it wasn't allowed there.
The ranger insisted that he park immediately, refusing to even let
him drive it off the Parkway. After not a little discussion, the
ranger finally relented, and the family was allowed to go on their
way.
