How the Fete Came About

This festival started out with an open invite to anyone on the FABP (Face and Body Painting list) to come down and visit Renee Domingue and myself (Susie Pierce) and we'd cook them a pot of gumbo.  Before we knew it we had about 15 people wanting to come - now we have about 40 painters who want to come and party and paint with us!  As the list of people grew... we came to nickname it "The Fete that ate Lafayette"! (Hey... it rhymes too :)

We have many trained and experienced painters who will be here to share their knowledge.

New Orleans Side Trip on Saturday

We will be taking a charter bus or special passenger vans on the Saturday which will take us on a plantation tour, then on to "The Big Easy" (New Orleans) for a mini French Quarter tour and the St. Patrick's Day Parade.   Depending on how many people sign up for the New Orleans side trip it should cost about 15.00 to 20.00 a person. Big or small, we're gonna have a Ball!!!

Those who want to sign on for the Saturday New Orleans excursion email me at thepartyartist@myway.com

Vendors

*** We should have a hospitality suite for vendors to display and sell their products.  Vendors should contact Susan Pierce at thepartyartist@myway.com

MARK REID SPECIAL CLASS

***Sign up for Mark's class soon before it fills up!***

Mark Reid will be at the 'Fete that ate Lafayette' for a very SPECIAL, "Mardi Gras Mania" class!   IEverything to do with making absolutely fantastic, fabulous Mardi Gras and similar masks.  He'll be using gems, shimmer powders, glitter you name it and we'll have a blast of a class!

!'ve taken his class and if there is one class in my opinion that would do you the most good it would be a class with Mark.  He has a gift for helping you to really 'get' the techniques that help take your painting to a new level.

I need to know how many of you would be interested in taking a half day class on the Thursday, March 15th with Mark.  The class would be 50.00 per person.

Email me at thepartyartist@myway.com  to reserve your place in class if you are certain you will be taking the class.

Mark will also be bringing along lots of Mehron / Paradise & Kryolan products to sell as well.  So stock up!

Pam Trent

***  Pam Trent of Way Wicked Art and US Body Painting competition fame is coming to The Fete to teach a class as well. She's asked Cindy Trusty to assist her in a henna class - and she will also demonstrate body painting as well.  We are so fortunate to have her!  And I can't wait to learn some body painting too.

  • Cory Conrad

  • ***Nationally known airbrush artist, Cory Conrad, will be at the fete to share his airbrushing experience with you.  Cory has taught at the FABAIC conventions for the past 5 years.  He's considered one of the top experts in airbrushing.
  • By the way, he's also promised to show us airbrush tanning and will have tons of great bargains on airbrush paint, equipment and accessories, just for us.  Thanks, Cory, for coming to "jam" and party with us!!!
  • Me and my buddy, Cory Conrad, at Mardi Gras 2007 in Lafayette, Louisiana.  Cory painted his face, awesome!
