LeRoy planned to spend about twenty-five dollars and ended spending one hundred dollars. We came home with twenty plants and from then on he was hooked. He joined the American Hemerocallis Society in 1989 and then the Baton Rouge Daylily Society in 1990. By 1991 he was bringing home the twenty-five dollar plants and the garden became larger and more beautiful each year. The prices escalated and the plants multiplied. As they did, he gave many lilies to friends and relatives. And by 1998, we have purchased introductions in the range of two hundred dollars a plant. He says he is not a gambling man, and most of his investments have multiplied with the dividend of a beautiful yard & garden. We were honored by the Baton Rouge Daylily Society to have our garden on tour for three years. All the credit goes to LeRoy, for he has created a beautiful and peaceful place out of our backyard. My responsibility for the garden is playing host for the garden during the tour in the spring |

And there seems to be a great deal to discuss, as conversation never seems lacking.. Growing daylilies is only one of LeRoy’s hobbies. While he is also interested in his computer, his favorite hobby is photography. He has been an avid photographer for over fifty years. His daylily pictures here are proof of this. |
