Our Hero

Joshua was our hero.  He did not set out to be a hero.  He became a hero when he enlisted in the Marines and obeyed those that had control of his military service.  He proudly went to Iraq, first to defend our country from terrorists, second to defend and protect the people in Iraq.

When Josh was still in school he was waiting for graduation so he could enlist in the service.  During our Youth Group meetings, during our special prayer time, requests were given and he always requested prayer for his girlfriend and their unborn son, besides other requests for our men in military.  Then during prayer time the youth would pair up with another and pray together for a particular request per couple.  Josh and Tasha would pray together for each other and their families.

After Josh left, his name was put on our Intercessory Prayer list.  The week he died we were praying for his safety, but more so, that he would maintain his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Josh will be greatly missed.  He will always be our hero.  Not just because he stood in defense of his country, but because he stood in defense of right that he learned through his Savior, Jesus Christ.

One thing Joshua had in common with Jesus is their name.  Joshua is a Hebrew name and that name in Greek is Jesus.  Another thing they had in common is that they both gave their lives for others.  Josh gave his life for freedom and his country.  Jesus gave his life for the entire world.  Today Josh is with his Hero.
