Fernandez Media

Originally related to me by Cesar Fernandez as a medium for  germination of orchid seed utilizing components that are readily  found in developing countries.

Banana puree  100 g  Agar  12 g  Sucrose  15 g  Vitamin B tablets  300 mg  Distilled water  900 mL

Media may be modified through the addition of 250 g. puree of mature tomato, filtered.

May also be modified by adding 200 ml pineapple juice + all previous mentioned components.

Another medium consists of the following:

Peter's 20-20-20 fertilizer  20 g  Banana puree  100 g  Agar  12 g  Sucrose  15 g  Superthrive  0.25 cc per liter of formula

pH must be adjusted for all these media.
