Harvais Medium

Steele (pers. communication) notes that while Harvais (1974) uses 800  mg of calcium nitrate, his 1982 formulation employs 400 mg/L.

Ca(NO3)2 * 4 H2O  800 mg  KCl  100 mg  KH2PO4  200 mg  KNO3  200 mg  MgSO4 * 7 H2O  200 mg  CuSO4 * 5 H2O  0.5 mg  H3BO3  0.5 mg  MnSO4 * 4 H2O  0.5 mg  ZnSO4 * 7 H2O  0.5 mg  Ferric ammonium citrate  1.0 mg  Glucose  10 g  Agar  10 g

This formula may be adapted for specific applications through the addition of ammonium nitrate (400-1400 mg/L).
