Thomale
Originally cited by Thomale, 1954. Die Orchideen. Eugen Ulmer Verlag, Stuttgart.
Thompson notes that this medium was devised for growth of paphiopedilum seedlings. There is no deliberate inclusion of calcium, and "many species grow successfully when supplied with very low levels of this particular element." Thompson goes on to note that the high levels of calcium commonly used in media will cause some species to react adversely.
This medium may be used for paphiopedilums if 0.1 mg/L biotin is added.
