Helping Hands for Copper Basin Bible Camp began informally in the late 1970’s with the wives of Board members getting together when the “guys” had their monthly meetings. It started with chit-chat but progressed to “What can we do?” In November of 1980, seven of these women got together and formally created Helping Hands. Back then its primary goal was to help raise funds for the completion and continued operation of Copper Basin Bible Camp in Prescott Arizona.Women from all over the state (as well as other states) are members. We even have some male-associate members.
Funds for the Camp are raised through membership dues, craft sales and sales of other items and of course the annual fundraiser Dinner and Auction in February. Additional funds are often sent in lieu of flowers in memory of a deceased loved one.
The 2009 Copper Basin Bible Camp fundraiser dinner and auction was a huge success. 10 camp scholarships are made available for members in need of assistance and 10 for friends of Church of Christ children (they should not already attend a church of Christ) . If your child has a friend just mark the box on the camp application and you will be contacted.
What an opportunity to reach out and introduce children to the Lord.
On the first Tuesday of September, November, January and April the members of Helping Hands meet at Camelback Church of Christ located at 5225 E Camelback Rd. These meetings start at 7:30 pm. Besides the administrative part of the meeting, projects are undertaken by the ladies to help with the arts and craft sales. If you like to get involved please contact us.
