Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busy bodies, saying things they ought not to. 1 Timothy 5:13
We should not allow ourselves to become idle because in doing so we become vulnerable to sin. How many times we pick up the phone to talk with our friends because we are bored and end up gossiping about people we know. We need to fill our days with God pleasing activities. Work outdoors in your garden, read your bible, volunteer at a nursing home, whatever. When we have too much time on our hands we become lazy not only in our lives but in our faith. Of course, it's okay to have days of relaxation but if you find that you're spending more and more time being idle it's time to get up and do something worth while and productive. Don't allow satan to use your idleness! Don't give him the chance! Serve your Lord now!
