I finally found some pictures of my 1970 Europa S2 in (its) better days.

First we see me waiting for my girlfriend to get off work. This was the summer of 1971. I had the car for about 6 months.

Here we see her after work. She couldn't wait to see me - or was it the car? Notice I still had a British plate on the car (PCL 643J).

I guess she liked me and my car. This is a shot of my honeymoon get-away. That's the first and last time I ever wore white shoes! Wow - I discovered that I still have that sports coat and it almost fits! My sweetheart really enjoyed the car and still likes sports cars. Look at all of those old sleds in the parking lot.
One day in 1971, I went to a local drag strip to see just how well it ran. To my surprise, I had traction problems in first gear (wheel spin). Even with this problem, the car ran pretty good. I only made two runs with a best (second run) of 16.04 seconds and 86.70 mph. Here are the actual timing slips. The engine was not quite stock. It had a single Weber 45DCOE-13 mounted to an Else manifold and headers. The cam was also changed from stock but the grind was not at all radical. I did not rev past 6,500 rpm (but I did hit 6,500 rpm in 4th gear on the San Diego freeway once).
Here are some pictures I got from my dealer in England showing the side air scoops. My 1970 Europa is almost identical to the car in these pictures with the exception of the racing stripe and wheels (mine are Cosmic). As far as I know, this dealer was the only one installing the scoops.
