Equipment and Instructions for a Homemade Incubator
|
Okay this is what I have used successfully as a homemade incubator:
* 4-5 gallon plastic reptile container
* one small bowl of water
* glass fish tank thermometer
* humidity gauge
* 75 watt heat lamp (the black bulbs)
* hand towel place on one side to help retain heat.
I keep the temp between 96-98 degrees F. I turn the egg 4-5 times daily.
If the water is going evaporating well enough on it own (I have to refill or
add to every other day) I just let it do that. If not, then I drop a few
drops near the eggs (not on them because if you put too much you can take a
chance of drowning them) a few times a day. The humidity should be kept at around 50% although it is tough to keep this accurate. I took some pictures that will hopefully help. This method has worked for me and hopefully will help many other save babies too!
