ISAIAH CHAPTER 4

1) And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man,
  saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel:
  only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

  a) Because of the few men that will exist. They will have all
    been killed in the war.
    They wanted a husband who would give them a name and take
    away their reproach.

2) In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and
  glorious, and the fruit of the earth [shall be] excellent and
  comely for them that are escaped of Israel. 3 And it shall come
  to pass, [that he that is] left in Zion, and [he that]
  remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, [even] every one
  that is written among the living in Jerusalem: 4 When the Lord
  shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and
  shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof
  by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

  a) the branch must be Christ who is called the branch.
    Isa 11:1  And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of
      Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
    Jer 23:5  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will
      raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign
      and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the
      earth.
    Jer 33:15  In those days, and at that time, will I cause the
      Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall
      execute judgment and righteousness in the land.
    Zec 3:8  Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy
      fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at:
      for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
    Zec 6:12  And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD
      of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH;
      and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build
      the temple of the LORD:

  b) Gill says that this is not to be taken literally but
    symbolically to mean the church in the latter day.
    But this seems to again be wrong.
    I believe Jerusalem and Israel are again in focus in the
    latter day here.
    The daugters of Zion are the Jewish daughters and not
    Protestant churches.
    This is speaking of when Israel and the Jewish people will be
    made to see that Christ Jesus is their Messiah and they will
    be saved.

  c) spirit of judgement and burning: Gill thinks this points to
    the latter time but applies it to the church.
    It seems more correct to be Jacob's trouble.

    Jer 30:3  For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will
      bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah,
      saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land
      that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. 4
      And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning
      Israel and concerning Judah. 5  For thus saith the LORD; We
      have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.
      {of fear_: or, there is fear, and not peace} 6  Ask ye now,
      and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do
      I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in
      travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? 7  Alas!
      for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even
      the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of
      it. 8  For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the
      LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy
      neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more
      serve themselves of him: 9 But they shall serve the LORD
      their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto
      them. 10  Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob,
      saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I
      will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of
      their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in
      rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. 11  For
      I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make
      a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee,
      yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct
      thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether
      unpunished.

5) And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount
  Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and
  the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory
  [shall be] a defence. 6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a
  shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge,
  and for a covert from storm and from rain.

  a) Of course Christ is our dwelling place, our protection in
    the day and in the night. He is our defence, and our place of
    refuge which the tabernacle in the wilderness pointed to.
    Gill again thinks this points to the Church in the latter
    time when the Spirit will come upon it and it will preach the
    Gospel in purity.
    But mostly apostacy prevails now and little truth, though
    there seems to be a small revival of it, but mostly error.
    To me this seems to point to the Millennial reign of Jesus
    Christ in which Israel shall dwell safely and will be under
    the protection of the true tabernacle, their Messiah, Jesus
    Christ.
