Use the lumber you have on hand, this one is made of redwood, with a hardwood dowel for the barrel. And a clothespin.

Here are 2 finished Clothespin luger rubber band guns, on the left is the redwood one, and on the right is one made of pine, cherry, and maple, just a hunk of old pine 2x4 and other scraps I had laying around. All wood, no plastic parts

A head on shot shows the pine center from an old 2X4. These are fun to make, no special tools, lots of pictures and lots of detailed instructions, I may have over done the instructions, loads of pictures, but it's really quite easy to make.
