then, starting at the hinge end, using your fingernails, start spreading and 'unpopping' the clip-latches that hold the case halves together.
since I was working alone, I needed something to keep the ones I'd seperated from springing back together - I used little sticks I had handy. pencils or paint
stir sticks would work just as well...be careful not to "stick 'em in too far" and damaging stuff inside the scanner.
important: once undertaken, if you're working alone, seperating the "clamshell halves" using sticks (or whatever) as you go to keep the click-latches
in check, the entire seperation of the halves process should either be completed quickly as possible or
the sticks should be withdrawn - otherwise, you risk 'bond failure' of the glass to black frame joint... don't use
anything thicker than the sticks I'm showing here, either - popsicle or paint stirring sticks would be better...
