Paul Czinner
on 30 May 1890 in Budapest one bore. It studied philosophy and literature in Vienna, attained a doctorate and worked as a journalist and starting from 1919 for the film as author, director and a producer. it offered Elizabeth Bergner the main role in its film Nju to 1924 , from this an artistic and personal co-operation of many years developed. Czinner produced all Bergner of films until 1939. 1933 married it and emigrierten themselves to England, where they could continue their theatre and film work nearly smoothly. Czinner died to 22.6.1972 in London. |

The family stories told about Paul Czinner and his wife are about their theater tours of the US and Canada. My grandfather (Paul Czinner's cousin, I think probably second cousin) took one of his nieces, not my mother, to see their performance in Pittsburgh. They stayed in the US during World War II because Elizabeth Bergner was afraid to cross the Atlantic by ship because the Germans were torpedoing Allied ships.
