CH Purrbodys Becuziluvu of Makanacoon

Nicknamed "Lovey"
Brown Classic Tabby

DOB:  October 12, 2003
HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 11/08/06
Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) on 11/04/06.  Result - Negative

Lovey , as we call her, was named after the beautiful old  nostalgic   song " Because I love you ".  She is a Grand Daughter of GC Purricoon's Bohemian Zebulon (Bo)  who at the age of 11, when we retired him, still had  the  beauty and vigor of a much younger male.  We are grateful to Karen Hullander  of Purrbodys Cattery for enabeling us to get Lovey so that we could bring Bo's lineage back into our breeding program.

CH Makanacoon's Kalakoa Dreamin

Nicknamed "Kala"
(Her name is pronounced Ka-la-ko-uh.  It means calico.)
Calico
DOB:  November 13, 2003
HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 10/17/04
Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) on 11/04/06.  Result - Negative

Kala (pronounced Kah - la) was given this name by Barry Gukes who has a musical background and thought it sounded like the song "California Dreamin."  She is a female that we have waited10 years for.  At last we were fortunate to get a calico and a beautifully marked one at that.  As a young baby, Kala was very shy and aloof, but she had to be trained for showing, so the work to instill confidence in her began.  At six weeks, I would often look down from my computer to find her sitting on my foot in the hopes of being picked up and placed in my lap.  Now as an older, more confident cat, she runs marathons around the house with whoever she can con into following, but still tries to remain my #1 computer supervisor.  Her strongest assets are to walk on the keyboard, misspell as many words as possible in the shortest amount of time, delete as much as she can as quickly as she is able to, and run like heck.  She has already flunked the "Makanacoon Beginner Computer Class".

CH Makanacoon Catch A Pose

Nicknamed "Posey"
Brown Classic Tabby with White

DOB:  August 6, 2004
HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 06/11/05
Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) on 03/06/07.  Result - Negative

When Posey was born, one of the first comments about her was in reference to her gorgeous pattern.  She is definitely one of the most beautifully marked Brown Classic Tabbies we've seen in a long time.  Because we thought of her as a show girl, we decided to give her a name befitting a show career ... thus the name "Catch A Pose".

CH Makanacoon's It's All About Me

Nicknamed "MeMe"
Smoke Tortoiseshell with White

DOB:  March 27, 2005
HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 03/29/06

MeMe as we call her is not a big girl, but a baby full of color amid a wonderful coat of smoke hair.  My first Smoke Tortie, she is full of energy, and keeps us in stiches with her antics.  Like a cloud of smoke she often appears from nowhere, but lets you know immediately she's present.  We will be watching her progress over the next few months, and are delighted to have her as a prospective Makanacoon.  I think her sweet little face will give you an idea of why we love her already.  Go MeMe !

Nicknamed "Lani"
(Her name is pronounced Ah-low-ha  La-knee)
Brown Classic Tabby

DOB:  June 8 , 2005
HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 03/21/09.

Her name means Heavenly Love in Hawaiian.  What a great Hawaiian name for such a sweet girl.  Lani as we call her is Heavenly.  Her sweet expression, coat pattern with it's golds and gorgeous swirls, and solid body all combine to make her a knockout.  She's  very  quiet in nature until the toys and feathers come out, then our little angel becomes a wild kitty.  She'll go over the top of anyone to get a feather, and then as proud as a peacock (with feathers  in  mouth ), she'll parade around the house daring anyone to take her catch away!  Once the feathers disappear, she immediately  goes back into her angel mode. Yes, she's quite a gal !

CH Guitar's Ulala of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Ooh-la-la
Red Classic Tabby
DOB:  October 15, 2006
HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 9/29/07,
Ulala is negative for Gene mutation (cMyBPC-3) by default which means that both parents tested Negative.

Ooh-La-La is a Rita Hayworth kitty with a flaming red coat and huge, eye-catching, red lynx ear tips.  She has a “come hither come go” attitude like some Hollywood starlets, and is definitely a standout in our cattery.  We wish to thank Johnnie Hardee of Guitars Cattery for this beautiful, sexy gal.

CH Makanacoon's Kuu Pandie

Nicknamed Pandie
Tortoiseshell with White
DOB:  June 11, 2008
Pandie will be screened for HCM on 11/7/09
Pandie is Negative for the Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) by default...both parents tested Negative.

Pandie got her name because the markings on her face reminded us of a  Panda Bear.  Like a little bear, she is full of herself and into EVERYTHING.  But, as mischievious as she is, she is  very affectionate, and loves to take out time from her busy schedule to give kitty kisses .... and yes, they are always on the mouth.  At night when I'm in bed, she will find me to give me a good night kiss, which always brings a smile.  And it was so funny to see her give JudgesWalter Hutzler and Bob Molino kisses  when she was shown as a kitten.   I guess we should have named her Smoocher, but with a face like hers...it had to be"  PANDIE"!  (We will be showing Pandie to get her Champion title after her first litter.)

Oldwestcoons Spots4me of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Spots
Silver Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  August 29, 2008
Spots will be screened for HCM on 11/7/09

Spots was given her name by John and MJ Teague of Oldwestcoons.  She is a very animated girl that is so much fun to watch as her gorgeous full coat of silver just flows when she moves.  She loves to play, and if a bell from a cat toy rings out, no matter where she is in the house, she is right there for play time.  Spots is my shadow and always follows me... staying within arms reach.  At night, she is one of my cuddle babies as she always sleeps on the bed with me.
Thanks John and MJ for this Remmington and Dory baby!

Oldwestcoons Mollei of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Mollei (Moll lay)
Silver Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  February 24, 2009
Mollei will be screened for HCM on 11/7/09
Mollei is Negative for the Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) by default...both parents tested Negative.

Mollei is a huge girl, very long in the body, with the tall tight ears that some breeders are now putting on the Maine Coon today.  She is a very flashy girl, careful in nature, but a cat that would survive in the wilderness, as she evaluates a situation before she jumps right into it.  She loves our cat trees, and can be found on the highest perches where she can keep an eye on everything that goes on.  If she were allowed to climb a mountain, she would probably be the first cat to reach Mount Everest!  She is an amazing cat, very regal and definitely a queen!
We wish to thank John and MJ for this lovely Raindear and Remmington daughter, so we can continue CH Makanacoon's Island Raindear's lineage.

New Princesses
These are young girls we are watching to determine if they
will become part of our breeding program in the future.

Makanacoon's Keep On Truckin

Nicknamed Trucker
Brown ClassicTabby with White
DOB:  May 5, 2009

Trucker was named after some of the last words my wonderful, sweet mother told me before she passed away on 9/13/09 after a short, but hard battle with lung cancer.  She knew how hard it was to raise these cats with all the trials and heartaches that a serious breeder goes through, and that so many times I almost gave up my breeding program because of discouragement.  She met this kitten shortly before she died, and told me to "Keep on Truckin".  Thus Miss Trucker got her name, and will always remind me of a very special wonderful Lady that I still cry for and miss so terribly much.

Makanacoon's Alamoana Annie

Nicknamed Annie
Brown PatchTabby with White
DOB:  May 6, 2009

Annie bears the name of my Mother, Anne.  Since we lived many years in Hawaii and on Midway Island where there were many beautiful pathways full of colorful fragrant flowers that led down to the ocean, it seemed appropriate to give this kitten this name.  I remember many a day of walking down to the beaches with my mother.  When my mother met Annie, her eyes brightened, and she got a kick out of her namesake.  Annie will always bring back special memories to me!

Mainally Miz Jessie of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Jessi
Brown Mackerel PatchTabby with White
DOB:  May 23, 2009

We got Jessi from dear friend Cheryl Windsor of Mainally Cattery, and wish to thank her for such a lovely lady.  Jessi is a real kick and just exubes with energy and fun.  She has the happiest purrrrrsonality, and always struts around the house with a smile on her darling face.  She gets along with everyone and loves everyone.  From the time she came to our home, she just fit in so perfectly, and immediately made the rounds to say hello to everyone.  We love everything about this little girl!  Cheryl, you did a fabulous job with this kitten!

R P Cathouse Babyapua of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Baby
Blue Cream
DOB:  June 2, 2009

This is the first Blue Cream we have ever had here at Makanacoon, and boy are we excited!
The Hawaiian word apua (ah-pooh-ah) means rebel, and was picked from the initials RP which stands for Rebel Paws.  Baby is a gorgeous puff of the most beautiful blue hair you have ever seen.  She has adapted quickly to our home, and already has made friends with everyone including our Doberman, Hulia.  I just look at her face and my heart melts... she is so pretty!

We want to thank Stella Gaynor of RP Cathouse Cattery for entrusting us with this lovely
blue lady.  We are looking forward to a wonderful show career with her, and eventually some
lovely blue coonlets.

R P Cathouse Kapua of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Pooh
Silver Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  June 2, 2009

Kapua (ka-pooh-ah) in Hawaiian means a beautiful flower, and this is so befitting of our new girl, Pooh.  Pooh is loaded with coat, has wonderful boning, and the most beautiful tall ears of any cat in our cattery.  She is a stunning kitten, and has wonderful qualities that she will add to the type of our
kittens in the future.  She was shown for the first time in Timonium, MD in October 2009 at the age of 4-months and placed in the top 5 Maine Coon kittens in 9 rings.

Stella, we want to thank you so much for sharing your wonderful pedigree lines with us by letting us purchase Pooh and Baby.  They are awesome kittens, and we are so excited about their futures.  Mahalo Nui!  Oh, and they have made themselves at home already by sleeping on the bed at night with the multitude of other makanas!
