The Menagerie - Two-City Tournament

Recently a tournament was held between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. We call it the Two-City Tournament™. The tournament is held semiannually, and there is a traveling trophy that resides with the winners until the next meeting. We in Tulsa were hosting this time around (we alternate venues as well), and we had put together some great tables on which to fight. The pictures that follow highlight the terrain more than the action, but some battles are depicted as well.

"The Gates of Fire"

This table was inspired by the classic confrontation between the Spartans and the Persians. The battlefield is blocked on one side by impassible mountains, and on the other by the sea. In such a place a small force could hold off an army.

"The Crossroads of Sylvania"

The landscape on this table is dominated by twisted trees and delapidated structures. The graveyard is the only thing that is mostly in tact. Even armies fear to traverse this crossroads at night.

A curious mist creeps over the ruined landscape. It seems to whisper as it flows and the fiercest sunlight cannot pierce its sinister gloom.

The spirits of warriors slain long ago are especially restless when the mist is about. It calls to them to rise up and make war once again.

"The Snows of Naggaroth"

In the far north, where the the wind is so icy cold that it will flay a man's skin from his bones, the sinister Druchii make their home. A watchtower (right) overlooks fields of snow, frozen ponds, and wind-blasted trees.

"The Tombs of Rozminhotep"

Rising from the shifting sands, the Tombs of Rozminhotep have stood for millenia. Ancient obelisks carved with obscure symbols and the rare oasis grace the landscape. The treasure hoard of the great Pharoah is the stuff of legends. Its promise has lured the desperate and avaricious to their deaths for time immemorial.

"The Three Bridges"

Two opposing forces meet at the river. Capturing and holding the bridges are the key to the battle. Getting there first will not guarantee victory, but delaying too long will most certainly end in defeat.

The sound of steel on steel rings out as the two forces meet on the crucial eastern bridge. The Greatswords hope to hold off the charging Dragon Princes long enough for aid to come from the rear. It will be a desperate stand.

"The Halls of Kravak Barr"

The Dwarfs have long abandoned Kravak Barr, but thier ancestors' carved stone faces remain vigilant over the gates to the great hall.
