The Tazarka Chronicles

Chapter 3: The Slayer Arrives

"About face! They are behind us!" King Kristov yelled to his valiant soldiers.

"No mercy!" Tazarka yelled. And then they got into combat. The ding of sword against shield filled the hall. To match that sound, the screams started. Screams of pain from both sides, and horrible screams of joy from the bloodthirsty chaos warriors. A Hammerer beside King Kristov fell, blood spurting out of one side of his body.

In the midst of combat, Tazarka came upon Kristov.

"Ha! So you are the leader of these pitiful fan-kushak. Now, you will die like the rest of them." Tazarka said, but was then hit by a cannonball. He was blown through the air, before he slammed into the back wall and slid to the ground. There he lay motionless for a moment, and a cheer went up from the Dwarfs. Their cheers were stopped almost as soon as they had started, as Tazarka got right back up again, thanking the gods for his magic armour. Two bolt throwers directed their fire at the Chaos Lord, but these failed to even make him stumble in his run back towards the fighting.

"Daka dosh kat." Slayer Julric whispered the password into Karaz-Tuther. He could hear the almighty clang of sword and hammer. The doors opened, and several Dwarfs turned to look.

"Slayer Julric! Slayer Julric is here! We are saved! King Kristov! Slayer Julric is here!" they called out. Slayer Julric strode proudly into the fray, and instantly killed nine fully armoured chaos knights in one mighty swing of his double-sided axe. One more swing, seven more knights dead. The Crossbowmen unleashed their bolts on the daemons, many of which fell, never to get up again. Each and every Cannon shot into the warriors, killing almost two hundred in one volley. The two stone throwers hurled their stones into the air, one missing but the other flattening three marauders. Gush-nakh appeared for the first time during the battle, and cast a corrupting spell that made the crew of the cannons turn on each other, and then four cannons were left unmanned. Five cunning marauders crept up and stole one of the cannons, swiveling it to shoot the last few cannons. The entire line of them were blown up and the Marauders died, but their job was done.

Meanwhile, Prince Tazarka met King Kristov again. This time, Prince Tazarka took a frenzied swing at the Dwarf lord and severed his arm and left shoulder. He fell to the ground, his face lifeless.

"YAAAAAH!" the Chaos army cheered.

"Alright! This hold is almost taken. But now, we move outside this hole to re-gather our strength." Tazarka said. His troops started leaving, although they did not think they should bother.

* * *

"Slayer Julric! You cannot go after them!" said a Dwarf.

"I know, I know. Now your king has been slaughtered, I say we should go to the Empire. Take all we can from here, and go to the empire. There we will join the army waiting for us." Julric said.

"What? A force waiting for us?" said the dwarf.

"Yes. I did not believe that we could win this, and so the Emperor gave me command over about ten thousand warriors and knights. Also there are war engines." Julric said.

"Well then. We will follow you, and hope you can lead us to victory. Now, let's get out of here." Said the dwarf.

"You have done well so far! All we have to do is kill that Slayer and then the gold in that mountain is ours."

Tazarka said to his entire army. "But I am tired. I have been shot by a cannon. Just remember that the Dwarf King is dead. We outnumber them by almost fifteen thousand. We will camp out here tonight, and in the morning will be the final slaughter." With that, all the mortals lay down to rest, and the daemons went off somewhere until dawn.

"Men! Awake now to the smell of victory!" Tazarka shouted out to all the warriors. "Aka naks junshag!" he said then, which means "daemons return to me" in Chaos dialect. And all the daemons seemed to come out of the ground, bearing their various weapons. For the first time, the Greater Daemons appeared as well, towering above the Chaos troops. "The time is nigh when we kill all the dwarfs and take all the gold, and be gifted by the great gods forever. No mercy!" Tazarka spoke again. The Bloodthirster flew up on top of the mountain, and with incredible strength ripped the tip of the mountain clean off, and hurled it right across to the other mountains in the distance. Then he flew in. The chaos force went in through the door Gush-nakh had made, and stormed around the corner only to find nothing.

"Where are they?! Split up. We will find these stunties."

Tazarka yelled in frustration.

"RRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!" the Bloodthirster screamed. Khorne had promised him blood to drink and heads to sever, but there was nothing.

"Gring'd ane! We will find them!" Tazarka shouted to the Bloodthirster, trying to contain its fury, but barely containing his own.

"Sir. We could not find the stunties."

"Why not? Look harder! And send some Marauders to look for the gold." Tazarka said to the servant.

"Yes m'Lord, o ok sir." Said the insignificant slave before he hurried away.

* * *

"Ahh, Slayer Julric. How are things?" the Elector Count said.

"Not well I'm afraid. King Kristov was slaughtered, and we had no other choice than to abandon our hold. We brought these," said Julric, pointing at the pots of gold and other metals. "Now, we need your aid. All of our cannons have been destroyed, and our bolt throwers and stone throwers have been taken. We are tired as dwarfs never are, we held up the entire hold with only these few brave and honorable dwarfs. Will you help us?"

"Yes. My army will come back with you. You may ride in these carriages is you are so tired you cannot walk." The Elector Count said. All the dwarfs clambered on the carriages, except Slayer Julric. He stayed with the Elector Count, who lifted the dwarf up onto his hippogriff Firewing. The Elector Count mounted and signaled to his mighty army to begin the one and a half day march back to the stolen and once fantastic Dwarf stronghold of Karaz-Tuther.

* * *

"So the Dwarfs have run to the Empire. Very well, we will just stay in this stronghold and destroy all Dwarf runes. But no gold. However I do believe that the stunties will be back, they are too arrogant to stay in safety. Send one hundred Marauder Horsemen to scout out the Dwarf leftovers. Find them now, we do not want them taking us by surprise. NOW!" Tazarka ordered Gush-nakh.

"Yes sir." Gush-nakh said obediently.

"Abut-kog! Take a hundred of your best horsemen and try and find the leftover dwarfs. When you do, get back here quickly. Tazarka's orders!" Gush-nakh said.

"O yea, I'll take da warrias meself. I fought dat da boss would make sumone else take em. Who cares doe. I'm goin, Gush-nakh!" the partially crazy Marauder chieftain said.

"Alrighty ladz, we got da assignment, so let's not fail da boss. We might get made inta knights on sumthin if we do dis good, and we orl no dat da knights kill orl da stunties esully. So lets do dis one good." The marauder chieftain said to his horsemen. With that the Marauders mounted their horses and rode off. Tazarka watched them disappear into the setting sun.

* * *

"Look! Sir, there are horsemen in the distance." Said the Empire swordsman.

"Ah. Marauder Horsemen. Let them come. Do not use any gunpowder. We will need our guns later." The Elector Count said from atop his hippogriff. The Horsemen were quite close now, in easy range of the crossbows and bows of the Empire troops.

"Fire!" said the captain of the crossbowmen. They unleashed their bolts and brought down seven Horsemen, and the Bowmen shot down another four. The clanking of the crossbows winding up again filled the air and the Bowmen shot again, killing another four. Now the Marauders began retreating, and three more were shot by the Crossbowmen. They drove their horses to sprint away, and no more fell to the arrows of the Bowmen.

"Ahh, unnhh. Ahh. Those bastards...shot..unnhh..me..ahhh." Abut-kog said. He had been one of the Horsemen who had been shot down. He pulled the arrow out of his shoulder. Driven by some sort of craziness, he sprinted up wielding his axe. He was shot again by the Crossbowmen, but pulled out the bolts and kept running. Unnerved by the persistence of the Marauder, the Archers completely missed. At last he reached the Empire, swinging wildly with his axe and killing two spearmen before getting his head bitten off by the hippogriff.

"You see this men? This is just a lowly soldier. We must fight better, if we are to win this war. Be warned. My Greatswords, my Pistoliers, my Knights, my warriors. Fight for the Emperor, and fight for Sigmar. We can beat this evil horde." The Elector Count proclaimed. "Now we advance under the rising sun. By nightfall, we will be fighting. Slayer Julric, and all of you good Dwarfs, we will avenge your Kings' death. We go to war for vengeance, and to fight for our freedom and peace."

* * *

"Tazarka. Dey shot at us." Said the Marauder.

"What? Who is they?" Tazarka questioned.

"Da Humanz. Dey hav got dis big army. Da Dwarves had joined dem. Big army. We need ta prapare. Dey shot Abut-kog."

"Well. The humans want to resist our invasion. Good! More slaughter,"

Tazarka said, before thinking a bit. "Why did you run you cowards! The least you should have done was go and fight bravely to your deaths. But no, you just had to RUN!" Tazarka yelled at the Marauder.

"Hey now, we wos goin ta die n we thought dat you would rava us alive." The Marauder said. "Wotcha doin wiv dat sword? I didn't do nuf," the marauder stopped talking, as Tazarka drew his sword and cut off the head of the Marauder.

"Weaklings." He muttered to himself.

* * *

"Sir, that is the very mountain that was stolen from the Dwarves ahead of us." The Empire soldier said to his trusted leader the Elector Count. "Really? But that is only two hundred yards away! Men! That mountain there is the one we are going to fight at. To war!" the Elector Count yelled to his loyal soldiers.
