Roosevelt Lake
Roosevelt Lake is one of my favorite places to fish. Mainly because I normally fish there with Scott, but mostly because we always fish it with a good friend and guide Art Chamberlain. Art is a really great guide, we always have a ton of fun and usually catch some fish. Scott and I fish with Art for Crappies and Largemouths. Roosevelt in my opinion is one of the best Crappie lakes in the west. The Crappies here are large and plentiful, 2.5 pounders are not uncommon and 3 pounders are not out of the question. There is even the chance of stumbling into a really large 38 pound Flathead Catfish as we did in 2001. The Flathead in the pictures below was hooked by Art on a 6lb Crappie rig while jigging a silver Kastmaster. If the line was anything but 6lb Fireline I doubt we would have landed the monster. Scott and I took turns Fighting the catfish and we finally landed the brute when Scott stuck both hands into its mouth and hauled it aboard. We took a few photos and release the Catfish. Later that day some of the oldtimers on the lake told us that 38 pounds meant the Cat was only a "baby"!
Most of the photos I have of Roosevelt are simply pictures of the landscape. The large mountains are Four Peaks that lie east of Phoenix.
Here is Roosevelt in December 2001:

Art is in the Black hat. He is an excellent guide and can be reached by emailing him at: tightliner@webtv.net .
