Family Support Team
I'm feel very lucky to have so many relatives that support my cause. Agnes my wife of 40 years, is the heart of my team.
I think I can safely say, I have the best looking coach around and very knowledgeable about running. She was a very good middle distance runner until, she was sidelined with a knee injury years ago.
She is in charge of my training. She helps set up my schedules, keeps me stretched out and above all makes sure I'm eating right. She is my coach, nurse, dietician, massage therapist and wife all rolled into one. She also plans out all our trips, finding the deals of hotels and air fare, so I guess I need to add travel agent to her list.
My other son Jim Jr. is my running partner, but with a new family of his own, we don't get to run together much anymore. He is always excited to hear about the faster time I ran, or the new shoes I'm trying out.
Last year when I ran the Rock 'N' Roll marathon, I started up the hills in Papago park and I was really hurting .
Jim appeared out of nowhere and started running with me. That was a very proud moment for me. He ran the last 8 miles of the marathon with me. I don't know if I could have finished that day without him.
My daughter in- law Lisa has helped me a lot with my fund raising efforts. If I need anything she right there to help.
She also took some great pictures of me at last years race, when she was there cheering me on.
About 8 months ago she gave us the best gift we could ever receive. Our first Grandson, Bryan. I think this was one of the happy moment's of our life. Bryan has brought so much joy back into our lives, and he was at the finish line at this years marathon in Phoenix. This is one memory that his Grandpa will never forget.
My sister Marge gives me a lot of encouragement and support. She has been at all my local races and I treasure the cards I get from her congratulating me on my marathons. It's so nice to have a sister that is also a good friend and always there to help out.
My nephews Joe & David and their families have also been there to wish me well at the marathons. David & Karen's daughters, Anne & Katie say they love to see uncle Jim run. The girls even put letters on their shoes that said .....Go Uncle Jim. I thought that was so cool. It is a great feeling to see them all as I arrive at the finish line.
I feel very lucky to get so much support from everyone.
Thanks Family your the best!
