Kitchen Remodel

Here are the before pictures.

This side is going to be slightly rearranged. The desk is going since it just collects junk.

Appliances ordered in June. Cabinets ordered in July. Here's the first project, new overhead lighting.

The big florescent light box comes down.

Putting in two pendant lights over the island.

They look great. We also added six recessed can lights around the perimeter of the kitchen.

Another pendant over the dining table.

The least fun job was ripping out the tile floor. We let the kids do the destruction.

We had to use an angle grinder to get the mortar off the concrete sub floor. Very dusty!

Even putting up plastic sheeting over everything, the entire house is covered with a fine gray dust for months.

Demolition took a day.

Here's what is left of the island.

New circuits installed and new drywall in place.

Here's the new cabinets going in.

The island gets resurrected.

Microwave and new hood installed.

New oven and range top, plywood counter under layment in place ready for granite.

The tile flooring is starting to go in.

The floor looks awesome now even without the grout.

The granite countertops, appliances and plumbing make the kitchen usable again.

The tile back splash is completed.

The final trim out of the cabinets will happen after the New Year. Just awaiting shipment of some replacement cabinet parts that had minor damage.

Wood flooring in the dining room and hallway is next on the list, then new carpeting in the bedrooms.
