My Personal Confuser, The Grand Zombie
One of these days I may turn this into one of those fancy-shmancy high-tech web sites with lots of bells and whistles, and the links will always be up to date. 'Til then just consider this my stake in the cyberspace "land run", a place where you can send me mail or check my trade list. If you're interested, you can download a couple of programs I've written. And the truly curious can find out a little about me or the Grand Zombie.
Clicking the blue beads in the section headers will bring you back here.

Now that Calvin is gone, Dilbert is king. The daily is here, as well as the DNRC newsletter and a 4-week archive in case you missed a strip. |
| Intelicast | NBC's Weather forecast for OKC. Includes current NEXRAD and satellite pix. Is this the information age or what! |
| 7-day forecast | Gary England's OKC metro forecast. You don't have to wait for the 10:00 news anymore. This site also has real-time NEXRAD pix for Oklahoma. |
| National radar | The Weather Channel's national composite radar image. See what's coming your way. Updated every half hour. |
| ZIP Code look-up | Type in an address and get the zip code. Also has the list of official state abbreviations. |
| Switchboard | US Phone number/address database. Find your long lost friends. |
| Map Quest | Gives you a street map of a town or address you type in. Find out where you're going or where you're at! |
| Health Finder | Healthfinder is a gateway consumer health information web site from the US government that leads you to selected online publications, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as agencies that produce reliable health information for the public. |
| Acronym Dictionary | IMHO, this will answer a lot of FAQs. A searchable database that finds acronyms PDQ. It's AOK! |
| Learn2.com | This site has "2torials" that tell you how to do just about everything from tying basic knots to dealing with everyday machines and appliances, and lots more. |
| The New Orleans Connection | There must have been a mistake... I think I should have been born there. |
| The Gumbo Pages | A great stash of info and links about New Orleans, as well as Cajun culture. |
| Red beans and rice | The recipe I use for red beans and rice, in MS Word format. It comes from the Frugal Gourmet and it's really good. |

| Jazz Fest | Some pictures from my trip to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 1989. |
| Mondegreens | A Mondegreen is a lyric which is heard incorrectly, usually with a hilarious effect. There are bunches of them here. |
| Antique audio | 78 RPM records that weighed a pound and wind-up Victrolas... poor old great-grandpa even had to work hard before he could chill with some tunes. See and hear how it used to be in the old days. |
| Record collecting resources | Huge list of links to labels, magazines, webpages, etc. |
| How CDs work | Ever wonder how all that music gets on that little bitty disc? Howstuffworks.com has that and lots more. For techies and the just plain curious. |
| The Sam Phillips Story | If you like blues, rock and roll or any other American roots music you should listen to this. The sound Phillips captured at his Sun Records studio in Memphis in the 1950s has helped shape rock and roll and American music ever since. You'll hear from Phillips, his family, friends, music experts and some of his recording talent, as they recall the years when Phillips came to realize his dream. From National Public Radio's Lost & Found Sound series. |
| WWOZ | Here's a great public radio station in New Orleans, streaming on the web 24/7. They play lots of jazz, but they mix in all kinds of other things... Latin, Irish, Cajun etc. The DJs know this stuff inside and out, no weak tunes here. My favorite is the Blues & Zydeco on Friday nights from 7 to 10pm Central. This page also has a link to their schedule. |

Digester is a new program I've written for people who subscribe to mailing lists in digest format, but don't have the time to read through all the messages. It allows you to quickly and easily select just the messages that interest you. You can filter on subject, author or keywords. Digester also includes a browser for viewing web pages mentioned in messages. If you're knee-deep in digests and short on time, don't unsubscribe before you give this a try.
If you use 4DOS as your command processor (and even if you don't) you might be interested in a couple of programs I've written using its BTM language. The first is PACK 'EM, a menu-driven utility that fills floppies to their maximum capacity when you want to copy or move files from your hard disk. The other one is CRYPTO, a program that lets you use your computer to solve cryptogram word puzzles like those found in many newspapers. You can even create your own puzzles for others to work and CRYPTO will encrypt them for you. More information about features and usage included in the files.
If you don't have a copy of 4DOS, it's a simple matter to download one and use it to run these programs. Instructions are included with PACK 'EM and CRYPTO. If you don't know what 4DOS is, it's an award-winning command interpreter (like command.com that comes with MS DOS) that is packed with useful features. If you spend any time at all at a command prompt you need this program. 100% compatible with Windows 95.
