I
have been addicted to computers since I took a programming course in college
(remember punch cards). My first computer was a VIC 20. It actually had a
cassette tape "drive" used for storage and a calculator style printer with a
small roll of "paper". I progressed to the VIC 64, and then on to an 8088,
286, 386, (skipped the 486), Pentium 90, Pentium 166, Pentium II 300, (skipped
the Pentium III), and Pentium IV (1,296 Mhz and 384 MB of memory).
I'm already thinking about getting a duel core processor. Go to
http://old-computers.com/news/default.asp for all the information you ever
wanted. I got a new toy. A Pentium D Processor 820 with Dual Core
Technology (2.80GHz, 800FSB), 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs, and
DataSafe 250GB hard drive (basically two drives using RAID 1). It's
noticeable faster loading Windows and programs, working with programs, and
restoring.
I "grew
up" in Nanuet, New York (Rockland County) and graduated from Nanuet High School.
I worked odd jobs (truck and taxi driver, auto repair, moving company) for
a few years and figured there had to be a better way of making a living. I
went back to school at the State University of New York at Delhi (one year) and
received my Bachelors degree (Accounting and Economics) from Ramapo College of
New Jersey. I went on to get a Masters (Accounting) from Pace University.
After graduating from Pace University, I went to work for the Air Force Audit
Agency.
My career has given me
the opportunity to travel a lot. I spent 2 years in Texas at Dyess Air
Force Base, 3 years at Kunsan Air Base in Korea and 2 years at Osan Air Base in
Korea, 3 years in South Carolina at Charleston Air Force Base, another 3 years
back at Osan Air Base, 4 years in Illinois at Scott Air Force Base, and about 3
years in Louisiana at Barksdale Air Force Base. I used to get the itch to move
every few years. However, as I get older, moving is no longer fun.
During my career, I
got to travel to many other locations in the states (e.g., California, Florida,
Ohio, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C.) and a few overseas locations
(Japan, Panama, and the Philippines). In my one of my prior positions,
Supervisory Auditor, I frequently traveled to audit offices I was responsible
for in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, and
Texas. In my prior position, Office Chief, I frequently traveled to Team
offices for which I had responsibility (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida,
Louisiana, and Mississippi ).
In January 2001, I moved to
Virginia for a staff position in Eastern Audit Region. The big plus to
this job is I will not have to travel nearly as much.
