Updates 2000

9 July 2000

Think I may have this sleep thing beat.  I took 10 days off work and refused to take Ambien no matter how much I wanted to sleep.  Some nights I slept without a problem.  Others, I laid awake for a couple hours.  One night, I did take a third tablet of Ambien because I had a doctors appointment the next morning.  I leave for a trip to Mississippi tomorrow.

15 July 2000

Couldn't sleep naturally on the trip to Mississippi.  When I got home I did sleep naturally, although it took a while on Friday (didn't get back from the airport until 2300 hours).  I think I figured out the killer headaches (had one all day Saturday).  They seem to be tied to not sleeping well.

18 August 2000

Still fighting the sleep problem.  One night I'll lay awake all night.  Another night, I wake at various times.  Leave on a trip to Texas tomorrow.  I had to get some sleep for meetings all week.  The only way I could sleep was by taking Ambien.

4 September 2000

I'm still fighting the sleep thing.  Five day weekend and I refuse to take Ambien.  I lay awake for a couple hours and kind of sleep.  I find if I lay awake, I get a killer headache.  I take a couple Excedrin PM which seems to take care of the headache and helps me sleep a little.

7 October 2000

Still having trouble sleeping.  The other weekend I went three nights without any sleep.

19 October 2000

When I woke my right leg would not cooperate.  I could not complete a step.  It just kind of dragged along.  Later that day, it went back to "normal".

10 November 2000

Last time I saw the neurologist, he tested me for carpal-tunnel syndrome.  He said I had it a little in my right arm and prescribed a wrist brace.  When I use a mouse (I've used a wrist supporting mouse pad for years), my whole hand gets cold and sometimes sore, even with the wrist support.  I think it's more from the MS than from carpal-tunnel syndrome.

26 December 2000

Still having trouble with my wrist.  The cold/sore feeling lasts for some time after using a mouse. I've tried a Logitech track ball which seems to help some.   In the morning my wrist feels OK.  In two weeks we move to Virginia.  About a three day drive with two dogs in a small car.  Still getting the headaches and still taking a third of a tablet of Ambien to sleep.  My legs and arms feel weaker.
