To help keep the beauty and utter selflessness Matthew brought into this world from diminishing, I’ve established the Matthew David Haines Foundation. This foundation, as specified, will be used to channel charitable contributions to needy causes that bring happiness and health to children’s lives. There are three main organizations for which the MDHF is soliciting funding:

*            Phoenix Children’s Hospital

*            Make-A-Wish

*            Give Kids The World Village

 Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Delivering gift packs to all children on the oncology floor. This is the inspiration for the MDH Foundation. The hospital has become a second home to these specific children due to multi-year treatment protocols. The gifts are a compassionate and incredibly effective way to lift the spirits of these children who suffer through painful procedures, depression, loneliness and boredom during lengthy hospital stays. The gifts and acknowledgement help them feel special and not forgotten by the outside world. 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the children. The MDH Foundation is the non-profit, tax-deductible conduit to ensure all gifts are delivered to every patient expeditiously and efficiently.

*       For Christmas 2007, the MDHF created and sponsored ‘Project Toy Box’, a fund used to purchase specific toys, games, crafts and other needed items for the oncology kids to enjoy during their hospitalizations. The funds are used to make special events extra special for families who fully deserve as much happiness as we can help provide. To read more about this wonderful project, please CLICK HERE!

*       For Christmas 2006, the MDHF created and delivered the ‘Capture a Smile’ photo-sharing kiosk program for all of the families to use within the hospital or oncology clinic! To read more on this loved and MUCH needed gift, please CLICK HERE!

*       For Christmas 2005, the MDHF delivered 25 gift baskets to all of the children on the PCH blood disorder floor! To read about this beautiful event and to see the wonderful ‘gifts of compassion’, please CLICK HERE!

 Make-A-Wish

“Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy”. Established in 1980, Make-A-Wish has granted wishes for 144,000 children so far and the memories born from these wishes granted are priceless for the children and their families. The MDH Foundation issues grants to sponsor children’s wishes. The average wish costs seven thousand dollars so the MDH foundation works in tandem with other fund-raising activities to raise funds needed for wish granting. Make-A-Wish’s corporate office is based in Phoenix.

*       In December of 2007, the MDHF donated a check for $5,000.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona to help future children’s wishes come true.

*       In December of 2006, the MDHF donated a check for $1,000.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona to help future children’s wishes come true.

 Give Kids the World Village

“Give Kids The World Village is a non-profit resort that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families”. Established in 1986 in Kissimmee Florida, GKTW has welcomed over 70,000 families from all over the world. The MDH Foundation issues grants to GKTW to sponsor additional children and their families. Ninety-two cents of every dollar spent goes directly toward programs and activities for the children.

*       In December of 2007, the MDHF donated a check for $1,000.00 to “Give Kids the World” to help sponsor other children’s vacation memories!
