| I was asked to show some of the tools I use to make the pieces.
So here's a start. As always, if you have any questions you can email me and ask. |

| This is my little Sherline Vertical Mill. I use this mill ot form many of the geometric shapes that make up a Mech.
Why use a mill? First off, it allows you to get very accurate in both having a piece square, and also angles can be held to tight tolerances. Sure, there are many times I just grab a file or chisel and just carve out a piece, but if you want accuracy, and symmetry, you almost have to mill the piece. Attached to it is a tilting angle table. Though the mill can have its head tilted on many an axis, the table allows for a much faster set up and doesn't require that everything be trued back to square afterwards. When I have it set up for a complex piece, I'll try to remember to take a picture of it in use. |

| This is my little machine lathe. I call him George. | ||||||||||||
| Here are some of the hand tools I use the most.
Front and center is my Dial Calipers. When you are working in miniature scale, you have to have accurate measurements. A ruler is ok for large pieces, but nothing can replace the caliper. Also in the frame are jeweler's files, a small chisel, a graver, a razor saw, a small machinist square and a can of polyester putty (fine bondo). |
