Click Here to Read or Post a Comment But all of the concrete is in! And they have started on the slate. I know this isn't very exciting to you all, but I have to say that the slate looks FABULOUS!! I will take some pics this weekend, but doubt they will capture the fabulousness. . . Finally, something I am actually completely happy with on this project!!!

And here is a shot of Ensenada from the boat:
And here is the biggest flag we have ever seen:
The picture doesn't do it justice but that really is a HUGE flag. Now back to the daily grind. But, the good news is that all the concrete will be poured today. Workers arrived at 6:30 a.m. Cement mixer was there by 7:30 a.m. Finally some progress! I'll post some pics of the progress when I get a chance. Have a great one!

Click Here to Read or Post a Comment Nothing all that exciting on the yard, though they are working on it little by litte. However, just to prove how non-boring I am I will recap my last week (and no, I am not making this up): 1) Won a trial (couple of hundred grand at stake); 2) Got another client $6 million; 3) Got rid of another claim for $13 million; and 4) Sold a piece of property for $1.5 million (or at least am pretty close to selling it). Coming up later this week: going on a cruise to Mexico. How do you like them apples?!? The cruise is one of those weekend things (leave Friday, return on Monday). It's Mark's firm retreat and we are very much looking forward to it. The ship looks like Las Vegas at sea, gambling and all. Hope that redeems my boringness. . .

They also delivered a BIG pile of gravel. Not really all that interesting except that they piled in in front of the house . . .
. . .which apparently is in violation of some sort of city ordinance and a neighbor told me that an inspector saw it. We are expecting some sort of citation or notice from the city. Which will in turn be passed on to our contractor. All these things I never knew and never wanted to know . . . As a result of the mis-placed gravel, we seem to have lost most of yesterday as the workers had to move all the gravel to another location. They did it a wheelbarrow-full at a time. I can only guess how long that took. This is why we now hire people. I'm no good with a wheelbarrow. At least things are stable on the inside. Petey is still tormenting Little Boy, but he also tries to help around the house. For instance, I was taking laundry out of the dryer and Petey just wanted to lend a helping hand/paw:
That's about it for now. Hope all is well!

Meanwhile, the first one does look better:
In fact, it has an offshoot/baby banana plant:
I see an abundance of banana nut bread in my future. Meanwhile, work continues on the yard. More pics to follow on that. Meanwhile, my dad got me obsessed with figuring out the panorama function on our digital camera (you take a series of pics and it stiches them together into a panoramic pic). After about a million tries, I finally figured it out. Here is one of my first attempts:
Not to bad eh?? That's about it for now. More to follow soon.

Click Here to Read or Post a Comment I always thought that having a yard done from scratch would be really cool. Get to choose everything and watch it all go in. Somehoe I glossed over the frustration part. I don't think it is just our project. Our neighbor two doors down started his yard 1-2 months before us and they aren't done yet (the City even shut them down at one point because their contractor didn't have a pool permit). Three doors down just fired their landscaper. So apparently this is normal. How pathetic is that? |
