Let It Snow . . .

This is for all of you who think that those of us in "Sunny California" have warm weather 365 days a year. This past weekend an extremely cold storm came through and dumped tons of snow on the local mountains. These are a few pictures taken of the hills from the Fabulous Yard:

Naturally, most of the snow has already melted. And it's supposed to be in the 70s today. Poor us. I don't know how we will survive.

Return of the Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Does everyone remember my post back in May about the eBay listing of the haunted grilled cheese sandwich?? How could anyone forget? Unfortunately my old link doesn't work anymore. But fear not, the sandwich has resurfaced, and has taken on biblical proportions. Literally.

It's for sale again, and is now being touted as bearing the image of the Virgin Mary. Yes, you read that correctly. And the current price is - wait for it - over $69,000!!!!!! Yes, again, you read that correctly. In case you want to buy:

Holy Grilled Cheese!

Not only is the sandwich suddenly extremely valuable, but it is extremely newsworthy: Sandwich News

The holy sandwich was pulled from eBay at one point because management thought it was either a hoax or that the seller couldn't deliver (I must ask, how could it possibly be a hoax??). But after much uproar, it was re-listed.

Perhaps the truest form of worship is shown by a few other eBay listings. There are Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese T-shirts:
T-shirt

There are Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese Thongs:
Thong

Then there is my personal favorite, the "Sock Monkey & Grilled Cheese Sandwich Like Virgin Mary":
Sock Monkey

(Had to post a direct picture of that one.)

Finally, there is the Virgin Mary Cheese Sandwich Psychiatric Care, which consists of an initial psychiatric consultation for those who bid on the aforementioned sandwich:
Psych Eval

Can you tell how much I love eBay? What's not to love? Perhaps what I love the most is that back in May, this lady couldn't sell the sandwich as just "haunted". So now she's trying again, and this time it's the Virgin Mary. And it's working.

Oops. Gotta go. Suddenly have a hankering for making grilled cheese sandwiches. Lots of them.

Long Time No Blog

Yes it's me. Finally. Sorry for the lack of posts. Somehow nothing has inspired me lately. But I did want to let you know we are still alive.

I'll try to come up with something incredibly witty and entertaining soon.

Too Much Of A Good Thing

I am a candy fiend. Truly a maniac when candy is around. I generally cannot resist it. Once I know it's there, it calls to me until I answer. I was even voted "Most Likely To Own a Candy Factory" in 6th grade. I used to spend whatever money I had on candy. I am also not really picky. I love chocolate, but also hard candy, chewy stuff, pretty much anything (except maybe those marshmallowy peanut things and the root beer barrel hard candies that I still remember from when I went trick-or-treating). So you can imagine what Halloween means to me. If I didn't firmly believe that trick-or-treating is something that must end when you become a teen, I would absolutely be out in a costume just for the candy. (Actually, maybe I should give it a try anyway - we had one trick-or-treater who was at least 2 inches taller than me. Apparently not everyone follows my rule.)

Luckily, working in an office, people bring in tons of candy. First there was the candy brought by our various suppliers (court reporters, copy services, etc.) as part of their year round suck-up routine. Little did they know that the sucking up definitely works on me. Then, after the weekend, everyone else brought all the stuff they had left over in order to keep from eating it themselves.

So my week has been heaven. To a point.

Monday
Woohoo! Halloween was yesterday and we have lots of candy in the office. Mmmmm. Twix. Snickers. M&Ms. Sugar high!! Don't even need lunch. Can just keep eating candy. Coconut has protein right?? Woohoo!!

Tuesday
Have moved on from the chocolately sweets to the sour type. Jolly Ranchers. Nerds. Runts. Love love love Halloween. Have had a sugary coating on my teeth all day. Sugar high continues!! Woohoo!

Wednesday
Back to the chocolate. Found someone with 100 Grand bars. Love the caramel and the chocolate. Sugar high day 3!!! But it's starting to get embarrassing. People see me approach their offices and say "Back for more candy?" Now I try to wait until they are out of their offices to sneak in and grab some goodies. But I think they still know what I'm up to (especially when they come back and the bowl is empty).

Thursday
The supply is dwindling. No more 100 Grands. No more good chocolate. I've scoured the office high and low. Both floors. All offices. Reception doesn't even have much. Just some chocolate coins and a few pieces of Bazooka Joe gum. But as I said, I'm not picky and I need some sugar!! Bazooka Joe it is! How professional do you think it looks to blow bubbles while wearing a business suit?

Friday
I am so sick of candy that even the sight is too much. What is up with all these people and their candy?? Halloween is over!! Get rid of it already! (The sugar high has definitely worn off and now I'm cranky.) What I need is a nice salad.

So there you have it. The week in review. It's all about the candy. But I must admit that I'm glad that Halloween is behind us for another year. Next come Christmas. . .

Vote!

Just wanted to remind and encourage everyone to get out and vote!! After all, you might have missed the gazillion election ads and just forgot about the election entirely (Har!).

And look on the bright side. Regardless of who wins, all of the annoying campaigning will be over. But perhaps not the constitutional challenges. . . .
