The Birds and the Bears

I managed to squeeze in my annual trek to St. Louis this Spring. Can't go without seeing the Spring bulb displays at the botanical gardens. Though I didn't take a ton of pictures, I thought I'd share a few of my favorites from the zoo and the gardens. (Actually, I did take a ton of pictures but when I got home I realized that they look surprisingly similar to those from last year and I don't think you all are up for another round of penguin pics.)

First, the tulips:

And at the zoo, here are the polar bears:

Please note that this was shortly before it started raining on us and we literally had to run for the car. As a result, not too many zoo pics. But at least the polar bears looked happier that we were.

Luckily the weather was nice (after we left the zoo) so we were able to spend lots of quality time on the screened porch. I took about a gazillion pictures of the birds on the feeders but only about two come out halfway decently.

And here's one of the Blue Jay that built a nest in one of the trees right off of the porch.

Lois tells me that the eggs have now hatched and you can see both Mama and Papa bird feeding the babies.

Coming soon: Pictures of many butterflies from the Butterfly House (the new must see exhibit in STL) as well as pictures of the birds and the Evil Unstoppable Bunny in our yard. Bet you can't wait.
